Deadpanist While Decoherence is one of my favourite bands of late, this release by the same guitarist and composer (Stroda) had me on my toes. If there is something that must be said, it is that Stroda has one of the most unique phrasings in all of the metal pantheon of guitar players. Throw in Eoghan's drums and the recipe is a winner all around. Although I still prefer Decoherence, this is a solid release offering another side of Stroda's greatness.

Ippocalyptica I have been entranced by Decoherence since the release of the stunning Unitarity, and now Stroda is taking things to the next level by adding more dynamics and a more ritualistic atmosphere to the mix, the latter no doubt facilitated by the involvement of the fantastic drummer from Akhlys and Nightbringer. This is dissonant black metal that tells a story with a similar musical vocabulary but with a different narrative structure. This will justifiably fare quite well on AOTY lists in 2021. Favorite track: Frozen Moon Chaos.

BlackSeed Productions feels excited to announce the signing of a new entity and the release of their debut album. PALUS SOMNI appears like the explosion of a doomed star into the cosmos of Black Metal with their first recording "Monarch Of Dark Matter".

Meaning 'marsh of sleep' in old Latin laguage, the name of an area of the Moon, Palus Somni's "Monarch of Dark Matter" is conceptually based on cosmic mysticism, a combination of the description of the physical universe and its metaphysical counterpart, the spiritual connection to the nature of the Universe through mythological references.

Whilst the name of Palus Somni is totally unknown for most, none are the persons involved in this band, born by the international collaboration of three characters . With the twisted dissonant riffs of Stroda (known for this work on U.K. based Industrial / Black Metal act Decoherence), the thundering vicious percussions of Eoghan (known for his work on U.S. Black Metal bands Akhlys and Aoratos) and the distant cold icy screams of Imber (from U.S. based record label Noxial), Palus Somni 'opera prima' stands as a raw but atmospheric and oppressive but always obscure piece of Black Metal art.
